Colleges Week competition terms and conditions


  1. All Entrants agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions outlined below.
  2. The Competition is organised by Colleges Week 2009 on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the Association of Colleges.
  3. We reserve the right to cancel or amend the Competition or the Terms and Conditions without notice. Any changes will be posted either within these Terms and Conditions or on the Colleges Week website.
  4. The decision of Colleges Week 2009 judges shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.
  5. There are no cash prize alternatives and Colleges Week reserves the right to substitute or amend prizes at any time.
  6. By entering this competition, entrants will release their copyright to Colleges Week, and entrants' videos may be used by Colleges Week in future online, in print, film, television, or in any other media for advertising.
  7. The Competition is open to all students currently enrolled on a college course at a general or tertiary further education College, sixth form College or specialist College in England. Any Entrant that does not fit this criterion will be automatically disqualified.
  8. Competition entrants under the age of 18 must obtain permission from their parent or legal guardian to enter the competition.
  9. Individual entries or entries from groups of up to three are permitted.
  10. Any videos entered in the competition must not be defamatory, obscene, illegal, infringe any third party intellectual property rights, or otherwise negatively reflect upon Colleges Week.
  11. Entrants must submit their video entry according to the guidance on the Colleges Week website. All entries must be received no later than 31st October 2009. Colleges Week will not accept mailed materials.
  12. Colleges Week assumes no responsibility for lost, late, damaged, misdirected, illegible or incomplete entries. Entrants are encouraged to get their entries in early and NOT to wait until the last minute. This also allows more time for videos to be viewed as part of the judging process.
  13. Colleges Week is not responsible for the functionality or performance of YouTube.
  14. Entries will be judged via two rounds. 1. A shortlist will be compiled of the most popular videos, based on number of views. 2. Judging by Colleges Week nominated judges. The judges' decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  15. All winners will be notified by the Colleges Week team.
  16. Entrants must have all ownership rights in and to his/her submission.
  17. Colleges Week reserves the right to void and/or disqualify any submission.
  18. Colleges Week is not responsible for any injury, losses, or damages of any kind resulting from participation in this Competition.
  19. Reasonable expenses incurred in the taking of prizes will be reimbursed however all expenses incurred in entering the competition are the responsibility of the entrants.

CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THIS COMPETITION IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS, AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, COLLEGES WEEK RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH ENTRANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED
